Your result for The Fashion Style Test...

Fashionista

[Tasteful Original Deliberate Prissy]

One is certain: you have great taste and plenty of ideas. You have clearly defined beliefs about what's good and what's bad in fashion but they are far from banal. Stylish and imaginative, you prefer to inspire admiration than to shock and you mostly succeed. Even if sometimes you'd like to have more courage to put on something absolutely outrageous you do great job in creating a unique look that others look up to. There is a possibility that you work in the fashion industry. If you don't, perhaps you should.

The opposite style from yours is Bar Cruiser [Flamboyant Conventional Random Sexy].

... if you wish to post this in your journal, it's been requested that you title it "I'm afraid of _ out of 72 common fears"

If you get more than 30, I strongly recommend some counseling
If you get more than 20, you’re paranoid.
If you get 10-20, you are normal.
If you get 10 or fewer, you’re fearless.

You're Lolita!

by Vladimir Nabokov

Considered by most to be depraved and immoral, you are obsessed with
sex. What really tantalizes you is that which deviates from societal standards in every
way, though you admit that this probably isn't the best and you're not sure what causes
this desire. Nonetheless, you've done some pretty nefarious things in your life, and
probably gotten caught for them. The names have been changed, but the problems are real.
Please stay away from children.

A meme snagged from [livejournal.com profile] svanderslice

You know how sometimes people on your friend's list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy mine below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out :)

1. First Name: Stephanie

2. Age: 33

3. Location: Currently Cincinnati, Ohio. As of July, ummm, well, sometime between July 7 and July 14, it'll be Philadelphia, Pa.

4. Occupation: Obituary Writer for Kentucky Post.com

5. Partner: Fiance - Jeff

6. Kids: None. Not now. Not ever. And Jeff feels the same way. We have zero tolerance for children, and I'm too selfish to put the needs of someone else before the needs of my writing. At least, with Jeff, I've got him trained. ;) (Just kidding! Make it sound like he's a puppy.)

7. Brothers/Sisters: I'm an only child.

8. Pets: Seven cats. I have four: Callie (calico), Skittles (orange tabby), Zora (tortie), and Tailless Cat (Manx). Jeff has three: Chloe (calico), Contessa (diluted tortie), and Victor (Maine Coon). We're like the Brady Bunch of cats. :)

9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:

(1) Moving to Philadelphia
(2) Jeff's professor job search... since it'll affect me. (God, just let him find a professor job in Philly! I'm not ready to leave the city before I even have any time there, or to do this hellish moving thing again any time soon).
(3) Needing to kick butt on the Grant and Lauren story, so I can have it finished and polished by RWA's National Conference next year... which will be in Washington D.C.

10. Where and for what did you go to school for?:

I attended off and on at the University of Cincinnati. I started out as an Electronic Media major, then Liberal Arts, then back to Electronic Media, then entertained delusions of Veterinary Technologies, then decided on English/Journalism.

I'd like to get back to school some day, especially since I have a job that will work great with school time, but I am/want to be too focused on my fiction writing right now. I'd resent having homework take that time away from me. For the longest time, I wanted a degree, just to show that I could get one (and get a better paying job), but right now, I don't care. If it happens, it'll happen.

11. Parents: Jim and Amelia. Married for, ummm, 35 years, I think.

12. Who are some of your friends?

Tom, Jeff, Sarah, Dayna, Lanie, Ayla, Bria, Chi... is it sad that the last five are Romance Divas I haven't met yet?

This is like the best meme ever! Thanks [livejournal.com profile] svanderslice for posting it!

Two problems with mine: (1) I don't think Hamid is going to like living in Manhattan. Sure, he'll be close to the UN, but everything I've read on him, he loves Afghanistan too much. Like he's got relatives living in the states who have begged him years ago to move here for his safety. (2) I can't see six people crammed in a VW Beetle. At least it's more roomy than a Smart Car though!

Behold... My Future
I will marry Hamid Karzai.
After a wild honeymoon, We will settle down in Manhattan in our fabulous Mansion.
We will have 4 kid(s) together.
Our family will zoom around in a green VW Beetle.
I will spend my days as a writer, and live happily ever after.

Mostly your emotions are on an even keel and you do not get depressed easily, however you feel strong cravings and urges that you have difficulty resisting. You tend to prefer short-term pleasures and rewards over long-term consequences. You tend not to talk much and prefer to let others control the activities of groups. You prefer familiar routines and for things to stay the same. You can tend to feel uncomfortable with change. You are willing to take credit for good things that you do but you don't often talk yourself up much, however you are not affected strongly by human suffering, priding yourself on making objective judgments based on reason. You are more concerned with truth and impartial justice than with mercy. You find yourself procrastinating and show poor follow-through on tasks. Often you fail to complete tasks - even tasks that you want very much to complete.

Go here. Keep refreshing until you've collected five quotes that really resonate with you, then post them to your journal.

We have been taught to believe that negative equals realistic and positive equals unrealistic.
- Susan Jeffers

It is not easy to find happiness in ourselves, and it is not possible to find it elsewhere.
- Agnes Repplier (1855 - 1950)

Household tasks are easier and quicker when they are done by somebody else.
- James Thorpe (1888 - 1953)

The only thing I was fit for was to be a writer, and this notion rested solely on my suspicion that I would never be fit for real work, and that writing didn't require any.
- Russell Baker (1925 - )

This is the challenge of writing. You have to be very emotionally engaged in what you’re doing, or it comes out flat. You can’t fake your way through this.

1. Do you like blue cheese? No, I gag every time.

2. Have you ever smoked? Yes. Once. Katie said it was a great way for me to get over my hiccups. I blame me being drunk on trying it. Yeah, it worked, because I was busy coughing too hard.

3. Do you own a gun? No, but I'd like to. (Take that, Michael Nutter!)

4. What flavour of Kool Aid was your favourite? Cherry.

5. Do you get nervous before doctor appointments? No.

6. What do you think of hot dogs? They rule! Especially Frita's or the hot dogs Jeff and I make occasionally, with mustard, relish, tomatoes, onions, and dill salt. I think it's dill salt. It's been so long since we've made them.

7. Favourite Christmas movie? Not a Christmas movie, but still... "A Charlie Brown Christmas." I can't believe they're still airing that with how overly PC everyone is nowadays.

8. What do you prefer to drink in the morning? Coffee.

9. Can you do push ups? I'd prefer not to.

10. What's your favourite piece of jewelry? My engagement ring.

11. Favourite hobby? Writing, reading, listening to XM, drinking, rubberstamping, scrapbooking, playing with my cats.

12. Do you have A.D.D.? Selectively.

13. What's one trait you hate about yourself? I'm too much of a pessimist?

14. Middle name? Lynne

15. Name 3 thoughts at this exact moment: I love coffee. I wonder when Mom's going to leave for the day, so I can write and drink. I have a month left to get my crap together for The Move, Part 2.

16. Name 3 drinks you regularly drink: Coffee, alcohol (it varies... lately it's been Bushmills and straight vodka), sparkling water.

17. Current worry? I better get a hold of people to interview for specials this afternoon.

18. Current hate right now? I only had two hours of alone time last night. Mom went to bed at 1:45 a.m.; Dad woke up at like 4:30.

19. Favourite place to be? Philly with Jeff and our seven cats.

20. How did you bring in the New Year? Jeff and I went to a New Years Eve concert, performed by the Dayton Philharmonic, then we stayed at the Doubletree, around the corner from the concert hall, but I pretty much crashed and burned since I was up all day, because December 31 was The Post's last day of business, and between attending the party there and loading up people's cars with furniture, then having to do obits later on for the web site's debut... yeah, I sucked at partying.

21. Where would you like to go? Italy. I've got relatives there who I've never met.

22. Name three people who will complete this: Anyone on my friends list. We all love memes.

23. Do you own slippers? Yes. Two pairs.

24. What shirt are you wearing? My clothes from yesterday: T-shirt and shorts.

25. Do you like sleeping on satin? Ewww.

26. Can you whistle? No.

27. Favourite colour? Earth tones... usually browns and dark greens. But I like bright colors too.

28. Would you be a pirate? No.

29. What songs do you sing in the shower? Depends on the ear worm I have at the time. Yesterday, it was "If I Never See Your Face Again" by Maroon 5.

30. Favourite Girl's Name? Allison

31. Favourite boy's name? Andrew

32. What's in your pocket right now? Nothing.

33. Last thing that made you laugh? Butters came over and visited Callie yesterday. We had the sliding screen door open. Butters would hiss at Callie, but then he'd smash his head up against the screen, like he was saying, "Love me! I'm a big boy cat!"

34. Worst injury you've ever had? I pulled a muscle in my neck in second grade.

35. Do you love where you live? Yes, now that I'm leaving it. :)

36. How many TVs do you have in your house? In my former apartment, one. In the Philly apartment, two.

37. Who is your loudest friend? It used to be Katie. I don't talk to her anymore.

38. How many dogs do you have? Don't like dogs.

39. Does someone have a crush on you? Jeff.

40. What is your favourite book(s)? "Rosie Dunne" by Cecelia Ahern; the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella.

41. What is your favourite candy? Not a candy. Lately it's been those black and white cookies.

42. Favourite Sports Team? Ewww.

43. What song do you want played at your funeral? Anything upbeat and swingy by Frank Sinatra. I would also like a martini bar set up.

How many have your name?

I've found one of them through a Google ego search I did once: The other Stephanie Secrest

I will never have the top spot in any Google search using that name. Surprisingly, I did when I used Stephanie Smith. Believe that one.

For Stephanie Smith:

HowManyOfMe.com
LogoThere are
6,118
people with my name
in the U.S.A.

How many have your name?

Yeah... I can believe that.

And to prove it's a small world:

I encountered a Stephanie Smith who was a patient at the dermatologist I went to when I was a teen. The doctor came in one time, started talking about the rash on my back. I was like, "I've got no rash on my back. Just zits on my face." She looked at the file and was like, "Oh, I've got another Stephanie Smith's file."

Then there was a Stephanie Smith who published a cruddy poem about New Kids On The Block in the same National Library of Poetry book that my (at the time I thought) incredibly awesome poem was in. (Cut me some slack. I did this when I was a sophomore in high school. I now know to stay away from Poetry.com).

And there's another Stephanie Smith in RWA. I found this out back in 2004 when there were some problems with our hotel registrations for the Dallas National. I've never met her though.

And you all wonder why I'm using Jeff's last name now, huh? :)

Who comments the most on this journal? )
uniquelyallie: (Default)
(I went with my pen name/future married name.)

What Stephanie Secrest Means

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.

You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.

You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life.

You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home.

You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.

You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.

At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are influential and persuasive. You tend to have a lot of power over people.

Generally, you use your powers for good. You excel at solving other people's problems.

Occasionally, you do get a little selfish and persuade people to do things that are only in your interest.

You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.

Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia.

Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.

You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.

You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.

You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily.

You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind.

A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.

You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.

You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

What color is your soul painted?

Purple

Your soul is painted the color purple, which embodies the characteristics of sensuality, spirituality, creativity, wealth, royalty, nobility, mystery, enlightenment, arrogance, gaudiness, mourning, confusion, pride, delicacy, power, meditation, religion, and ambition. Purple falls under the element of Earth, and was once a European symbol of royalty; today it symbolizes the divine.
